Dr. Martin G. McCain

Pastor McCain is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is a graduate of Virginia Union University (B.A. in History/Political Science), Gammon Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), and United Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry).  Dr. McCain has served in the North Georgia, Virginia, Northern Illinois, South Indiana, and Memphis Annual Conferences of The United Methodist Church. Dr. McCain was appointed to Grace United Methodist  Church June 1993 by Bishop Kenneth Carder after serving  for 12 years in the South Indiana Annual Conference.  While serving  congregations he has served on many boards and committees of organizations in Indianapolis and Memphis to advance the ministry of the church. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

A retired Commander in the United States Navy Chaplain Corp, he has been married for thirty eight years to Terri, a retired elementary school educator and has two grown children, Martin, Jr. and Mia.  Pastor McCain is a golf, tennis, and jazz enthusiast.

Pastor McCain’s favorite Bible text is Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

 


Director of Music and Worship

Dr. Edwin E. Fox

Dr. Edwin E. Fox is the Director of Music of Grace United Methodist Church, since June 2009. He previously served Grace from 1999 through 2003. His teachers  Cassandra Spearman and Zebedee Jones and his father Eugene Fox a well known educator and musician introduced him to music at an early age. Becasue of them he developed a passion for music and contributing to his sucess in creating great choirs. His love, interest, and devotion to sacred music, especilly gospel music, earned him the 2003 James Julius Guy Gospel Music Award.

He is a graduate of Coahoma Agricultural High School, The University of Mississippi and the Universtiy of Illinois. His full time vocation is a Doctor of Pharmacy and his avocation is sacred music. Dr. Fox loves sharing his love for Christ through music.

Rev. Freddie Moore

Reverend Freddie Moore graduated from Delta Center High School in Walls, MS.  He received his undergraduate degree from Rust College in Holly Springs, MS, and completed the United Methodist Course of Study at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, with a concentration in New Church Development.  Reverend Moore served as a supervisor for the Head Start Early Child Development Center (Emmanuel, Walnut Park, and Centenary locations).  In addition, he worked for the City of Memphis Department of Housing Development for 29 years.  Reverend Moore served as pastor of Calvary Longview United Methodist Church for eight years and pastor of Holy Community United Methodist Church for 20 years.  He served on the board of Porter Leath Day Care Centers, Memphis Urban League, and the Wesley Housing Corporation.  Reverend Moore is also the Past Chairman of the Downtown Churches Association and Black Methodists for Church Renewal as well as a member of the Joseph Bethea Scholarship Committee.  

Reverend Moore is married to Sherryl Clark.  They are the parents of three children, twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Mary Jones

Mary is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and a graduate of Mt. Pisgah High School in Cordova, Tn.  She is currently finishing classes at Ashford University and will have her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting.  Mary has four children and her husband has four making a toal of eight with a combined total of eighteen grand children.  Mary became part of our staff in August 2013. Mary is active in her church and sings in the choir.

Carla Landers

Carla is a native of Collierville, Tennessee and a graduate of Collerville High School. She is currently working on her Associates Arts degree at Southwest Community College.  Carla is the mother of two daughters who are attending college.


Sexton

Eddie Ryan

Eddie Rhyan is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and has been on the staff of Grace since 2005.   Mr. Ryan is a man of fashion when not working at Grace church. He loves to wear his many stylish hats.
